The election has become an obsession. Any time someone says or does something, it is met with over-focus for days. This causes stress and lack of focus on a person’s own goals. When we are obsessed and over-focussed on any given thing, it steals our ability to focus on correct things. It robs a person of the ability to be creative and resourceful. It is at times like this when a person is in danger of letting personal goals slip away. It is easy to forget to make yourself a priority, and you accidentally risk the loss of your future.

Any obsessive compulsion is caused when both a negative and a positive are attached to the same thing. For an example, a person who wants to lose weight might have a compulsion toward the scale. One day the numbers are good, and there’s excitement. Another day the numbers reflect a less-than-desired result, and the person is upset. They might give up and think “I screwed up so I guess I might as well eat”.

We need to be able to shake off these unwanted obsessions. We need to be able to choose our focus more wisely. What if you decided to have a healthy obsession with your personal goals and your future? What if you made that compelling future fun and easy?

One tool to make that focus happen is to keep your goals on the forefront of your mind daily. You might create a list or picture board for yourself. However, it doesn’t even have to be tangible. You might simply decide to see it in your mind often.

One secret to success is to create a list of all of the pains and hassles you get to avoid by taking action toward your goal. Create another list of the rewards and activities you get to participate in by succeeding. The key to this secret is to be bold and honest with yourself as you do this. It also works more when you write it out by hand, rather than type on a computer. Your mind makes far better connections this way.

Another tool, of course, is hypnosis. Hypnosis helps you to gain focus while being relaxed about your actions.
